Hart Organization (Homeless Assistance Resource Team) is launching its 2026 Winter Sanctuary initiative to provide shelter and compassionate support for individuals experiencing homelessness. Guided by Jesus’ words in Matthew 25:38, “I was a stranger and you welcomed me,” our mission is to help every guest feel deeply loved, respected, and valued.

Friends Church is grateful to partner in this outreach and will host a night of service on Tuesday, February 10, 2026. This will be a time for our church community to come together in service through providing a warm meal, overnight presence, and heartfelt care.

Event Details

• Dinner served at: 5:30 PM
• Menu: Chili — a returning favorite that was a tremendous success during our last Winter Sanctuary partnership
• Overnight volunteer support: 8:00 PM – 7:00 AM

We invite volunteers to sign up for the overnight shifts, and we are especially hopeful for strong participation this year. The more volunteers who sign up, the shorter and more manageable the shifts become, allowing us to better care for our guests while also supporting the well-being of our volunteers.

Food & Topping Donations Needed

We will also have food sign-ups available, and we would be grateful for contributions of:

• Chili
• Chili toppings (cheese, sour cream, green onions, etc.)
• Cornbread
• Cookies
• Dessert items such as cookies and homemade treats

We are also planning to serve cornbread and cookies alongside the meal, and ingredient or prepared-food donations are warmly welcomed.

Volunteer & Food Sign-Ups

• Sign-ups for both overnight shifts and food donations will begin January 11, 2026, and will be available in the church lobby following Sunday service.
• We encourage our church family to prayerfully consider participating in a shift, donating food, or supporting in any way possible. Every contribution — time, prayer, or resources — makes a meaningful impact.
